Doomadgee State School is situated in the remote Aboriginal community of Doomadgee, located within North West Queensland. It is a one hour flight or six hour drive from Mount Isa, the nearest city.
The community has a population of approximately 1500 people, made up primarily of Gangalidda, Waanyi and Garrawa people. The traditional lands of the Gangalidda and Waanyi peoples lie in and around the Doomadgee Shire. Fishing, camping and horsemanship are popular pastimes and the Gunnalunja (Nicholson River) flows alongside the community.
