Welcome to Doomadgee State School

Gawa ngijinda mayamaya (Gangalidda language: Welcome). Doomadgee State School is a remote school that offers learning experiences for students from Pre-Prep to Year 10.  We are a co-educational school and we cater for students with a diverse range of learning needs and interests. We are located 100 km west of Burketown in Far North West Queensland in the Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire. The Doomadgee community is predominantly made up of Gangalidda, Garrawa and Waanyi first peoples of Australia.

In 2015 we introduced a set of school values “The Doomadgee Way” which underpins everything we do here.  Our school values at Doomadgee State School are:

  • We look after everyone and everything
  • We speak kindly and act in kind ways
  • We keep everyone safe
  • We always try our best

We strive to maintain a welcoming environment where learning is our priority. Everyone is welcome at Doomadgee State School.

We have a strong School Improvement Agenda and our three priorities for 2017 are:

  • Attendance
  • Changing School Culture - The Doomadgee Way and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
  • Reading
